Insider Gives An Update On Terry McLaurin’s Injury Scare

The Washington Commanders almost paid a high price for letting their first-team offense play so much Monday night.

Their preseason game vs. the Baltimore Ravens gave them a chance to take a glimpse at Sam Howell with his new set of weapons, and the early results were promising, as he threw for nearly 200 yards with two scores.

However, that would’ve been all meaningless if it had cost them Terry McLaurin, who limped off the field with an apparent foot injury late in the second quarter.

Fortunately for the Commanders, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the injury — which was believed to be a toe sprain — was nothing serious.

Per Rapoport, an MRI revealed that McLaurin suffered no structural damage and there’s hope he’s on the field for Week 1, calling him day-to-day more than anything.

Losing McLaurin would’ve been a massive blow for Eric Bieniemy’s offense, considering he’s their undisputed No.1 wide receiver.

McLaurin is coming off a remarkable season, hauling in 77 receptions for 1,191 yards and five touchdowns, getting a Pro Bowl nod for the first time in his career.

That took his career tally to 299 receptions for 4,281 yards and 21 touchdowns, and that is despite always having a subpar quarterback situation.

That’s why teams are reluctant to get their starters on the field for long during the preseason, but that’s just a part of the game.
