The Minnesota Timberwolves have to be loving what they have seen from Anthony Edwards so far as he has been the clear scoring leader for Team USA.

Through four games, Edwards has taken it upon himself to lead the offense and he has excelled as the primary option in half-court possessions.

The All-Star is coming off a successful 2022-23 season where he turned into the Timberwolves’ alpha and that has been great for Team USA.

What makes Edwards such an impressive scorer is his ability to get to the rim and finish using his athleticism and skill while also being able to knock down shots from long range.

In their final exhibition game against Germany before the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Edwards once again took control of the offense and drew praise from Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James who was watching from home via his Twitter account.

James has never been shy to praise the young and upcoming stars in the league and Edwards is clearly on the rise given his rapid development since entering the league in 2020.

Numerous American players over the years have benefited from playing on the international stage and the perceived bump could push Edwards into the superstar category.

Minnesota is banking on this experience to help Edwards continue to grow because he is clearly the face of the franchise.

With the World Cup starting later this week, Edwards and Team USA looked poised to advance deep in the tournament and hopefully bring home another gold medal.
