The New York Jets are entering a new era as they will be led by star quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The Jets had a strong 2022 season but with Rodgers under center have a legitimate shot to compete in a loaded AFC.

New York’s got the talent and weapons on offense to be a real threat, especially with someone like Rodgers to orchestrate each and every snap.

Bringing in Rodgers was a clear sign that they didn’t believe in Zach Wilson whom the Jets selected No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.

However, while Wilson is slated to be Rodgers’ backup for the foreseeable future the latter believes he can take over for him once he’s gone.

“I think we’re gonna be competitive here for a long time… I’d like to be able to play a few good years here and then hand it right back off to Zach, and let him go for the next 15. It’d be a really special 18-20 year run of great quarterback play,” Rodgers said via CBS:

Rodgers can definitely play at least a few more seasons, and hopefully Wilson has learned enough from him to feasibly take over.

Throughout his short NFL career, Wilson has shown some glimpses of how effective he can be but his decision-making and accuracy have left much to be desired.

Fortunately for New York, they won’t need to count on Wilson for the short-term with Rodgers in charge.

The Jets have all the makings of a playoff team and it’ll be interesting to see how far Rodgers can take them in his first year with them.
