In the end, James Harden might get his wish and leave the Philadelphia 76ers before the new season begins.

However, has he done serious damage to his future and his legacy?

Speaking on The Rally, Brooke Fletcher painted a not-so-rosy picture of Harden’s reputation following his last few years in the league.

“You forced your way out of Houston and Brooklyn and now you’re trying to force your way out of the Sixers… There has to be a line that’s drawn,” Fletcher said.

She went on to say that no one is denying Harden’s genuine talent.

With an average of 21 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 10.7 assists in 2022-23, Harden is definitely a great player.

But he has created an image and reputation that might make other teams timid to sign him in the future.

Why would a front office take a chance – and pay a lot – with Harden if they’re not sure how loyal he will be?

Plus, do they really want the headaches that always seem to accompany his trade demands?

Fletcher said that Harden’s “true colors” are the biggest drawback for the player.

But she noted that people can change and his attitude could be adjusted in the future.

However, it’s worth remembering that people thought that was happening during his time with the 76ers.

Last summer, Harden stayed in good shape, remained driven throughout the offseason, and even helped bring new talent to the team.

He was saying and doing all the right things.

One year later, he is desperately trying to depart from the Sixers.

Because of his past actions, many teams simply might not trust Harden in the future.

That could hurt him in the short and long term.
