The Cardinals Own A Concerning Mark This Season
Despite the woes of the pitching staff, the St. Louis Cardinals have had a very prolific offense for most of the season.
They are tied for sixth in the National League with 567 runs scored.
However, the offense has been far from perfect this season.
Twice on Friday night, they stranded the bases loaded against the New York Mets and missed their chances to get back into the game.
Ultimately, the Mets won 7-1.
Thanks to these missed opportunities, St. Louis owns a very concerning mark entering Saturday’s game.
According to Brandon Kiley of 101 ESPN, the Cardinals are hitting .178 on the season with the bases loaded and also have just 55 RBI in 111 plate appearances.

Despite the offense typically being a bright spot for this Cardinals team, there are still issues that have yet to be ironed out.
This is one of them.
The Cardinals have scored plenty of runs, but have struggled in key spots, especially with the bases loaded.
And even with the season essentially lost at this point, this is still a concerning mark for the Cardinals.
It is one of many reasons why they own the second-worst record in the National League and are 15 games below the .500 mark.
The pitching has been the main issue, but this certainly isn’t helping their cause.
At 54-69, they remain in last place in the NL Central.
And as time goes on, there simply isn’t any cause for hope in St. Louis.
The best thing the team can hope for at this point is to finish strong and build momentum for 2024.
