This week, incoming rookie Anthony Richardson, the No. 4 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, was named the starting quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts.

It wasn’t a huge surprise, especially given that their next best option at the position was Gardner Minshew.

Some feel Richardson has plenty of potential thanks to his ability to gain yardage with his legs in addition to his passing skills.

Analyst Michael Lombardi recently appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” and broke down the offensive system the Colts use and how Richardson is a good fit for it, and he also mentioned that head coach Shane Steichen is the right coach for him.

Richardson wasn’t a great passer in college at the University of Florida, as he threw for 2,549 yards and 17 touchdowns while completing just 53.8 percent of his pass attempts in 2022.

But he ran for 654 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 6.3 yards per rush attempt.

Richardson’s stock seemed to rise during the NFL combine, as teams raved about how he did during the interview process, and he went from a decent prospect to one that many thought highly of.

In Indianapolis, he will team up with Jonathan Taylor, who is one of the best running backs in the game, and a solid wide receiver in Michael Pittman Jr.

Making the playoffs will be difficult for the Colts, as the AFC is extremely competitive, but they can start to establish something positive after winning just four games during a disastrous 2022 campaign.

It was a campaign that saw the firing of head coach Frank Reich and the controversial promotion of neophyte Jeff Saturday to replace him, as well as their catastrophic loss to the Minnesota Vikings in which they blew a 33-0 lead.
