The Indianapolis Colts seemingly have their quarterback of the future in Anthony Richardson.

When you draft a player that high, the expectation is that they will be starting in Week 1.

It appears the Colts feel comfortable with Richardson taking that honor.

Indianapolis has announced that Richardson will be the starting quarterback in Week 1 of this season.

Richardson beat out Gardner Minshew, who will be the backup.

The NFL Draft is about selecting players who have the highest upside.

Richardson could be the best quarterback in this recent draft class.

He has the size, arm strength, and mobility to excel in the NFL.

Colin Cowherd recently talked about how Richardson reminds him of three NFL quarterbacks.

He said, “I get a little Josh Allen, a little Cam Newton, and a little Big Ben,” when watching Richardson.

The Colts are not expected to be competitive this year.

So it is worth it to throw Richardson out there and see what he can do.

The Colts have an elite offensive line so protecting Richardson should not be a problem.

Also, they have a few nice pieces on offense to surround their rookie signal caller.

There is no question there will be plenty of growing pains for Richardson this year.

But, the best way to learn in the NFL is by playing.

The Colts should want him out there to learn from his mistakes and get used to the speed of the NFL.

While the Colts may not be competitive this season, they should be fun to watch.
