Angels Insider Sums Up The Team’s Current Rut
The 59-61 Los Angeles Angels have somehow gotten worse after buying at the trade deadline.
They brought in some talent to aid a playoff push, but have lost way more than they have won after August 1.
They have dropped seven of their last 10 and look hopeless out there.
On Monday, they lost by a final of 12-0 against the AL West division leaders, the Texas Rangers.
The Angels keep suffering blows in their quest to make the postseason for the first time since 2014.
They just don’t look likely to achieve their goal at this point.

LA is 12.5 games behind the Rangers in the division and seven games out of the last Wild Card spot.
As you might think about a team that concedes 11 runs or more in three of their last four contests, the pitching has become a problem beyond Shohei Ohtani.
Griffin Canning got hurt, and Reid Detmers is not pitching to the top of his abilities.
The offense is inconsistent beyond Ohtani (who leads the American League in home runs) and really misses Mike Trout.
Defense has also become a problem.
There is not a single department in which Los Angeles is excelling right now, and if you remove Ohtani from the equation, they would probably be a bottom-tier team in the American League.
By the look of things, they will be losing Ohtani in free agency later in the year without a postseason berth or any prospects.
