The Braves Accomplished An Elite Feat On Sunday
The Atlanta Braves have been on a power surge as of late.
Matt Olson’s recent stretch of home runs is certainly helping with that.
But through the first 117 games of the 2023 regular season, the Braves have been hitting the ball with authority.
Atlanta has hit 227 home runs this year.
According to Sarah Langs of MLB.com, that is the second-most any team in Major League history has hit through the first 117 games of the year.

The 2019 Minnesota Twins had hit 228 home runs through their first 117 games, and that team went on to set the single-season home run record for a team with 307.
The Braves are on pace to potentially break the Twins’ record from 2019 later this year.
The team owns the best record in all of baseball and has been carried this season by the powerful hitters in their lineup such as Olson, Austin Riley, and Ronald Acuna Jr.
The 2019 Twins were a powerful team and still own the single-season record for the most home runs hit by a team in Major League history.
But with the powerful bats in the Braves’ lineup, they could potentially be the next team to set that record.
They’ve made some impressive history so far this season, coming very close to the Twins’ 2019 mark through the first 117 games.
But as the season winds down, the Braves have a chance to shatter the mark the Twins had at the end of the 2019 season.
The Braves have an 11-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East.
