The market for NFL running backs has been absolutely brutal this season.

It became evident with Saquon Barkley’s negotiations, and it’s become even clearer with Jonathan Taylor’s trade request and Josh Jacob’s failure to land a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders.

That’s why Cleveland Browns star Nick Chubb took some time to discuss their current status, stating that they’re in a tough spot and calling the league out for the way they’re treating them right now.

In the latest edition of the Pivot Podcast, Chubb talked about how frustrating it was to be treated this way.

He talked about the fact that running backs are asked to run and catch the football and also block at a high level, yet they don’t get the pay they deserve because they’re ‘wear and tear’ players who fall from grace sooner than others.

That’s precisely because of the physical burden they have to endure.

Truth be told, these guys are still making millions of dollars to play football, and it’s not like they’re struggling to make ends meet.

But watching other players — who need their running backs more than others –, such as Daniel Jones, making that much money should infuriate the biggest stars in the game when they cannot seem to get any sort of respect from their teams.

It’s reaching a point where it’s a matter of principles, and the league will need to do something about this, as there will be fewer young men willing to put their bodies on the line to play at running back.
