After tearing the UCL in his throwing elbow during last season’s NFC Championship Game, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is working his way back to full functionality.

He has been working with the team’s first-stringers throughout training camp, and barring something strange or unexpected, he will be San Francisco’s starter in Week 1 of the regular season.

The 49ers held a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday, and Purdy had a hiccup in his path back to football, as he threw three interceptions, per Vincent Bonsignore.

One shouldn’t take too much from this poor showing from Purdy, as it is merely a preseason scrimmage and he is likely still shaking off the rust from not being able to throw a football for months.

The man dubbed “Mr. Irrevelant” had almost a storybook rookie season last year, as he replaced the injured Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 13 and took the NFL by storm.

Purdy’s numbers from that point on rivaled those of just about any elite, established QB, and he extended San Francisco’s regular season winning streak to 10 games.

He then guided them past the Seattle Seahawks and the rival Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs before disaster struck versus the Philadelphia Eagles in the conference title game.

The 49ers may not be the favorites to win the NFC this time around, but they are definitely one of the front-running Super Bowl contenders, and they have an absolutely stacked roster.

If Purdy continues to play as well as he did last December and January, this could the be season where they finally fulfill their “Quest For Six.”
