Just like every offseason, James Harden has been a major talking point around the NBA.

The word around the league is that Harden wants to leave the Philadelphia 76ers, with the Los Angeles Clippers as a potential destination.

However, he’s also been tied with a move to the Houston Rockets.

That, according to former Rockets great Tracy McGrady, makes no sense from a basketball standpoint.

In a recent sitdown with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, McGrady claimed that there has to be something more about his desire to leave the Sixers, as there’s just no way he’s going to win a championship in Houston, and he knows that.

McGrady says that Harden wants to win a ring, so it’s not a knock on him as a player, but one doesn’t have to be a basketball savant to realize that the Rockets are nowhere near championship contention.

Moreover, even if Harden does want to go back to Houston, that doesn’t make any sense from the team’s standpoint either.

Why would they spend so much money on an aging and injury-prone player that bailed on them when things got hard?

More than that, why on Earth would they take touches away from their young prospects and hurt their development so Harden could have the ball in his hands?

The Harden era in Houston is over.

If he wants to go back, he should do it as a free agent on a veteran minimum deal once he’s ready to retire.
