The Dallas Cowboys have had one of the NFL’s more talented rosters over the last few years, and this season, they have become even more talented.

This offseason, they added Brandin Cooks to a wide receiver room that already features two-time Pro Bowler CeeDee Lamb, and newcomer Stephon Gilmore will give them another outstanding cornerback opposite Trevon Diggs.

But Dallas’ Super Bowl hopes rest on the play of quarterback Dak Prescott, and there are reasons for their fans to be concerned.

Prescott has been throwing lots of interceptions during training camp and LeSean McCoy says it is a troubling sign, via “Speak” on FS1.

Last season, Prescott led all quarterbacks with 15 interceptions, despite playing in just 12 games due to a thumb injury.

It was arguably the worst season of his career, and it came just one year after he had 4,449 passing yards, 37 touchdown passes, and a 104.2 passer rating.

Prescott has a track record of not playing up to his potential in big games, and in last season’s Divisional round loss to the San Francisco 49ers, he managed just one touchdown pass while throwing two interceptions.

The Cowboys haven’t won the Super Bowl since the 1995 season, and they haven’t even gotten to the NFC Championship Game since then.

For a franchise that has brazenly embraced its moniker of “America’s Team,” the excuses are over, especially given its upgrade in talent this season.

Prescott is likely going nowhere even if he continues to underperform, but it’s time for him to turn the corner and elevate his level of play.
