The Houston Astros defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 8-2, on Wednesday in the second game of their series.

With the win, they reached a 66-49 record and keep fighting to secure their place in the postseason.

They are currently in possession of the second Wild Card in the American League but are still in the race for the AL West division: they are just two games behind the Texas Rangers as of Thursday afternoon (they were on the field against the Orioles at the moment of writing this piece).

Wednesday’s win was the 2,159th in the illustrious career of Astros manager Dusty Baker, per MLB insider Bob Nightengale.

“Congratulations to Dusty Baker, who moves into 7th-place on the all-time managerial victories list with 2,159 with the #Astros victory over the #Orioles. The only managers ahead of him have all been inducted into the Hall of Fame,” he tweeted.

He is already seventh on the all-time managerial wins list, having just surpassed Bucky Harris.

Since Baker has only lost 1,839 games, he boasts an impressive winning percentage of .540.

The baseball universe celebrated last year with the Astros’ win (well, perhaps Philadelphia Phillies supporters weren’t too thrilled) in the World Series because it was Baker’s first Fall Classic trophy after more than a few tries.

He vowed to be back this year, and the Astros are looking like a solid bet to at least contend for a spot there.

They just traded for star pitcher Justin Verlander and have a fearsome offense and a quality bullpen.

As for Dusty, next up in the managerial standings is Sparky Anderson with 2,194 wins.

He has an outside chance of surpassing him this year, but the smart money would be next season.

Baker has had an amazing career and is one of the most successful MLB managers of all time.
