The Dallas Cowboys finished the 2022 season with a 12-5 record, making the playoffs for the second consecutive year.

However, their inability to make a deep postseason run is quickly catching up to them, and they are receiving a lot of critique as a result.

In a recent segment of ‘First Things First,’ Chris Broussard discussed a few important variables for the Cowboys in 2023.

“Even if you’re going to lose, don’t let it be a complete failure, a flop,” Broussard said.

While the Cowboys had only five regular season losses in 2022, three of them came by at least a touchdown.

Broussard believes that, if the Cowboys can be consistent throughout the NFL season, they have a much greater chance of success.

Dak Prescott has commonly been blamed for the Cowboys’ shortcomings, which he’s hoping to improve upon this year.

Consistency is key in the NFL, something Prescott has struggled with in years past.

When looking at the teams across the league that have sustained success, the Kansas City Chiefs seem to be the picture of consistency.

Patrick Mahomes continues to lead the team on game-winning drives, something he can’t do without a strong defense.

While the Chiefs’ defense might not be ranked among the league’s best, they tend to not give up big plays.

This leads to the opposing offense getting less time on the field, giving Mahomes all the time he needs.

If the Cowboys are able to provide that for Prescott, he may feel more comfortable on the field, leading to greater offensive success.
