The Indianapolis Colts are facing a big roadblock right now regarding Jonathan Taylor.

The star running back has officially requested to be traded, and while team owner Jim Irsay has made it clear that he’s not going to do that, things could get uglier sooner rather than later.

That’s why there was plenty of speculation when Taylor didn’t show up to training camp.

However, according to a report by Nate Atkins of the Indy Star, Taylor is currently undergoing treatment on his ankle, the same ankle that bothered him throughout the course of last season.

Notably, the Colts beat writer adds that HC Shane Steichen hopes for Taylor to be in attendance at training camp at some point in the near future.

Taylor is one of the best running backs in the league right now, even if he’s coming off a subpar and injury-riddled season.

He’s making just north of $4 million and wants to be among the highest-paid players at his position, which would require a pay raise of roughly $12 million.

The Colts could obviously afford to make that, but the new trend against paying running backs could stand in his way, just like it happened with Saquon Barkley this offseason.

Also, the fact that he’s still dealing with ailments on his injured ankle could only make it more difficult for him to get the kind of deal he wants, especially considering the way the Colts have dealt with his contract situation and his desire to find a new home.
