Outgoing Packers Players Are Following Curious Trend This Offseason

The Green Bay Packers will look quite different this season, obviously starting with the quarterback position.

Jordan Love will sub in for Aaron Rodgers, who took his talents to the AFC East to play for the New York Jets.

However, he’s not the only player that left town — obviously — in the offseason.

And, as pointed out by Packers beat writer Daire Carragher, the players who left the Packers in the offseason are following a somewhat curious trend.

Apparently, 70% of the departed players have either joined the Jets or signed with an NFC North rival.

DE Dean Lowry signed with the Minnesota Vikings, TEs Robert Tonyan Jr. and Marcedes Lewis joined the Chicago Bears, and WRs Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb and FS Adrian Amos followed Rodgers to the Jets.

Some believe the Packers won’t be good enough to compete at the highest level in 2023, and oddsmakers believe the Detroit Lions should be primed to take over the division for the first time in three decades.

Nonetheless, despite all the losses, they still have an elite defense and a good coach, not to mention a promising receiving corps entering its second season.

Of course, it takes a lot to compete, and quarterback play could be critical, but the front office and the players have expressed the utmost confidence in Jordan Love and state he’s more than ready to take over the offense.

The NFC North seems up for grabs, but at least, chances are that one former Packer will win the division.
