Chase Young Hypes Up A Return To Excellence In 2023

Many people aren’t expecting much from the Washington Commanders this season.

However, they showed some potential last season, winning six of seven games at one point before finishing 8-8-1 and missing the playoffs.

Defensive end Chase Young issued a warning to the rest of the NFL about what he is capable of this year, via an appearance on “Up & Adams” this week.

“I’ve never really paid attention to the outside noise. For me, it was always when Chase is 100%, he’s pretty good…now that I’m healthy, let’s see what happens.” ?

Young was the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft after an outstanding final year of college football at Ohio State University during which he won numerous individual awards.

As an NFL rookie, he had 7.5 sacks, 12 quarterback hits, and 10 tackles for loss, which earned him the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

But he has been hit hard by injuries over the last two years, and he has appeared in just 12 games during that time.

The Commanders are looking to start over with a clean slate after the controversial Daniel Snyder sold the team to a group led by billionaire investor Josh Harris and NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson.

Snyder had owned the team since 1999 and was accused of sexual harassment by dozens of women who were employed by the organization.

They have a neophyte at quarterback in Sam Howell, who played in a grand total of one game last season as a rookie, but they also have a bona fide star at wide receiver in Terry McLaurin, who had 1,191 yards and made the Pro Bowl last year.

If they are to make the playoffs this winter, Young will have to play a large part in that type of success.
