The Kansas City Chiefs received some bad news about one of their players just one day after training camp began.

When the second day of training camp began, Kadarius Toney was nowhere to be found.

While this caused initial fan confusion, Adam Schefter recently provided additional insight into the situation.

Per Schefter, Toney is slated to miss time during training camp, but he should be ready for the regular season.

As Schefter indicated, Toney did have surgery during the offseason, which was supposed to help mitigate issues with his knee.

He appears to have re-injured his knee while returning a punt, so his training camp status is in jeopardy.

This is now the third major injury concern of Toney’s career.

The first two came when he was a member of the New York Giants, having injured his hamstring and oblique on separate occasions.

He also was ejected in another game, throwing a punch at a Dallas Cowboys player.

Due to these incidents, Toney has only appeared in 19 career regular season games, starting eight.

Toney has shown some promise throughout his career thus far, and the Chiefs have shown a belief in him.

However, the best thing that a player can be in the NFL is available, ready to assist their team.

If Toney continues to miss time due to injuries, his time in the league could quickly run out.

With any luck, Toney will bounce back quickly, beating his projected timeline and returning to the Chiefs as a key offensive contributor.
