Giants Star Doubles Down On Support For Saquon Barkley
The New York Giants didn’t handle Saquon Barkley’s situation the best way possible.
After failing to strike a new deal, Barkley is eager not to play under the franchise tag, and it’s clear he may not intend to report for the season at all.
The craziest part about this is the fact that both parties weren’t reportedly that far apart in terms of money, yet the Giants refused to take their offer slightly up a notch to avoid all this drama.
And even though he knows this could take a massive toll on the team’s chances of making the playoffs this season, Giants DB Xavier McKinney recently took to Good Morning Football to show his support for his teammate.
“Obviously we know what he means to our team. He’s a great teammate, a great guy… Regardless of if he’s there or if he’s not, we’re with him 100 percent…”@mckinney15__ is up with GMFB!@Giants pic.twitter.com/CFIVfaglN9

Notably, Barkley was the best player on the field for Brian Daboll’s team throughout the whole season, and he’s coming off the best campaign of his career, not to mention the fact that he was actually healthy, which has always been the only knock on him.
The Giants could’ve used the franchise tag on Daniel Jones instead, making him prove that last year’s growth wasn’t just a fluke and that he was able to be consistent and good in this league.
Instead, they committed a lot of money on a subpar quarterback who’ll need Barkley to be efficient, all while lowballing their best player.
Barkley has every right to feel insulted, and barring a miracle, there’s just no way they’ll be in the mix for a playoff spot without him.
