Dan Snyder Hit With Massive Fine As He Leaves The NFL

National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodall virtually testifies to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee during a hearing about sexual harassment in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill on June 22, 2022 in Washington, DC. Washington Commanders co-owner Daniel Snyder was also asked to testify but refused to cooperate and committee Chair Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) said she will subpoena Snyder to testify next week.

On Thursday, NFL owners were tasked with voting on the sale of the Washington Commanders, with longtime owner Daniel Snyder agreeing to sell the team for $6.05 billion to Josh Harris and his ownership group.

The was unanimous with every owner in the league on board with the change in ownership that officially ends Snyder’s disappointing reign as owner of the Commanders franchise.

Although Snyder walks away from this situation a very wealthy man with an incredible return on investment, the NFL didn’t say goodbye without putting a sizable dent in his pocketbook.

According to Ari Meirov, the NFL fined Snyder $60 million due to the Mary Jo White investigation.

Even though $60 million isn’t much compared to over $6 billion, Snyder had this coming and is likely not happy about what the league has done while ushering him through the exit.

This was an interesting tidbit in what already seemed like a big win for the NFL, its fans, and the struggling franchise that has been suffocating under Snyder for more than two decades.

With Snyder now gone and a hefty bill to pay before he can officially cut ties with the league, it’ll be interesting to see what transpires in Washington D.C., as Harris and his ownership group try to get this team back to relevancy and reach its true potential.

The Commanders achieved virtually nothing under Snyder as the franchise was the laughingstock of the NFL for many years, but now the healing can begin, and a new era of football can take place in the nation’s capital.
