Mets Make A ‘Surprise Move’ Regarding Starling Marte
The New York Mets can’t catch a break.
They have won three games in a row and look like they are about to break out, but they will now be without Starling Marte.
They placed the outfielder on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 17, with migraine headaches.
Mets insider Anthony DiComo said the decision was “a surprise.”
In a bit of a surprise move, the Mets have placed Starling Marte on the injured list due to his migraines. The move is retroactive to July 17.

Marte took some fly balls in the outfield on Thursday morning and was trending towards a Friday return after missing the last three games and four of the last five.
Something changed along the way, though, and he will now be on the shelf for about an extra week to give him time for the migraines to subside.
The teams hasn’t announced a corresponding roster move, but one is expected, as it’s unlikely that they will be short-handed for the series against the Boston Red Sox.
Marte has slashed .254/.308/.332 with five home runs and 24 stolen bases in 333 plate appearances this season.
It’s likely that he has been slowed down by the core injury that affected him last year and was surgically repaired in the offseason.
There were rumblings saying that the Mets might be willing to include the 34-year-old outfielder in trade negotiations, but it’s unlikely teams will be eager to sacrifice part of their future for a struggling veteran with injury issues.
The best course of action for the Mets would probably be holding on to Marte and hoping his healthy version can bo back to contributing his usual output.
We will know more in the next few days.
