Bulls Expected To Part Ways With Young Guard

The Chicago Bulls have dealt with a good amount of adversity lately, and some think they could undergo a significant overhaul pretty soon.

They had the best record in the Eastern Conference midway through the 2021-22 season, but injuries and poor play have rendered them a mediocre squad ever since.

With the rest of Lonzo Ball’s career in jeopardy ever since a meniscus injury that has kept him out of action since January 2022, the Bulls have a lot of work to do in order to become relevant again.

They have some decisions to make on certain players, and one of them, guard Ayo Dosunmu, is a free agent who is expected to leave Chicago.

Dosunmu was a second-round draft pick in 2021, and he is a local product who grew up in Chicago and attended the University of Illinois.

There, he had a strong junior season, averaging 20.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists while shooting a high percentage from the field and from 3-point range.

As an NBA rookie, Dosunmu shot 52.0 percent overall and 37.6 percent from beyond the arc, but this past season, his 3-point shooting accuracy fell precipitously.

Two other key players the Bulls need to make decisions on are Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan, their two best players.

Although LaVine is under contract for four more seasons, he has been the subject of trade rumors over the last couple of years, and there have been whispers more recently that they may get rid of DeRozan.

There are also questions surrounding center Nikola Vucevic, who is a productive two-time All-Star but has issues fitting in.
