It’s been more than 20 years since the Philadelphia 76ers last made it to the NBA Finals.

They’ve been contenders for years now, yet it seems like there’s always something standing in their way to success.

And with James Harden wanting a trade and Joel Embiid making cryptic statements about his future with the team, it’s only normal to see that the patience is running out.

That’s why GM Daryl Morey spoke on local Philly radio to send a message to the fans, letting them know that they will do whatever it takes and go the extra mile to put the right pieces around Embiid, whether it’s in free agency or via trades (via Sam DiGiovanni).

Then again, he can only do so much with the assets he currently has in his hands, and his words don’t seem to correlate with his actions.

There were multiple rumors about teams looking to absorb Tobias Harris’ terrible contract, and that would’ve given him plenty of financial flexibility, yet he decided to ask a lot for him.

The same goes for Harden, as he’s reportedly set an exorbitant value in return for the aging and injury-prone star.

Morey has a bad rap around the league when it comes to making deals, mostly because he never wants to meet anyone in the middle.

That way of doing business has rarely done him any good, and it doesn’t feel like he intends to change his ways any time soon, so it’ll be quite tough for him to live up to his word.
