Each season in the NBA there seems to be a new crop of players that everyone wants to keep an eye on.

For the 2023-24 season that will have to be the loaded rookie class.

Many people want to talk about Victor Wembanyama, Brandon Miller, and Scoot Henderson.

But one player who is still a rookie that no one is discussing is Oklahoma City Thunder center Chet Holmgren.

The 2022 second overall pick missed all of last year with a foot injury.

So he still gets rookie status entering the upcoming season.

Holmgren went on “KG Certified” to talk with Kevin Garnett about his recovery process and where he is mentally.

The 21-year-old said he worked on his body while being out and “picked up a lot of things” he can use this season.

Despite having a young team, the Thunder had a surprisingly strong season last year.

Now adding Holmgren into the fold should only help them take that next step.

Taking the year off could prove to be beneficial for Holmgren.

He came into the NBA with a slender body and many questioned how he would hold up.

But now after one season of getting stronger, he should be much more NBA-ready.

After many years of being bad, the Thunder have finally started cashing in on their draft picks.

Holmgren is the highest-drafted player on their roster and someone they should build around.

It should not be a surprise if the Thunder are back in the playoff picture next year.
