As some people predicted, the Cleveland Browns have made a decision about DT Perrion Winfrey.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the team has officially released him.

This decision comes just hours after the news broke of him being under investigation by local police for allegedly threatening a woman at gunpoint.

The DT was arrested in April for misdemeanor assault after allegedly injuring a woman, but the charges were later dropped, so this isn’t the first time he’s been tangled up in something like this.

The 22-year-old entered the league last season and had a somewhat promising season with 22 tackles, two passes defended, 0.5 sacks, and two QB hits on 342 defensive snaps and 13 appearances.

According to a report by FOX 8, the incident took place on Tuesday evening, with two women confirming to the police that Winfrey had been there.

The former Oklahoma Sooner was spotted in a hotel lobby, and one of the women yelled at him and later insulted him when he didn’t respond.

That led him to threaten her and flash his gun at her, and they reportedly have footage to prove that.

The now-former Browns player reportedly fled the scene before police arrived, and he wasn’t arrested, but he’s still under investigation.

Even so, the fact that the team has already decided to cut ties with him makes it seem like there’s more to this story than what’s been reported thus far.
