Just last offseason, NFL fans and analysts debated whether the Philadelphia Eagles should take a quarterback in the NFL Draft, trade for a bona fide star at the position, or ride with Jalen Hurts.

The former Oklahoma Sooner responded by being the most improved player in the league, posting MVP-caliber numbers throughout the course of the season, and leading them back to the Super Bowl.

That’s why NFL analyst Sal Paolantonio doesn’t agree with ESPN’s latest quarterback rankings, stating that Hurts should be a top-5 QB instead of No. 6.

Paolantonio explains that he could even make a case for being top-3 after posting a 16-2 record last season and being just three points away from beating Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

Moreover, he praised Hurts for the way he improved in almost every single aspect of the game after his early struggles.

Not many people thought Hurts had what it took to be a starter in the league, let alone an MVP candidate.

And while the Eagles may have rushed to pay him after just one impressive season under center, he’s still a work in progress and could become even better with more experience under his belt.

Hurts is now one of the highest-paid players in NFL history and will have a huge target on his back as such.

But he’s proven to be mature and resilient enough to deal with every challenge that’s been put in his way, and he knows he still has to prove himself in this league.
