On Friday night, Sabrina Ionescu of the WNBA’s New York Liberty grabbed the attention of the basketball world and namely arguably the greatest shooter of all time, Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry.

Ionescu participated in the WNBA’s three-point shootout, setting the Twitterverse ablaze with an all-time performance.

Curry couldn’t help but show his respect for the Liberty star as she dropped 37 points, missing only two shots, which is an all-time record for the NBA or WNBA in the competition, according to the WNBA’s Twitter account.

This is a remarkable feat, to say the least, considering the incredible shooters that have participated in this competition in the history of the game, like Curry, Ray Allen, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Kerr, and Larry Bird.

Curry, of all people, knows what it takes to win this competition, with the four-time NBA champion coming out on top in this competition twice in his Hall-of-Fame-caliber career.

At 25, Ionescu has already made a name for herself as one of the brightest young stars in the WNBA and has only taken her career to new heights with this historic performance, which has gained national attention and piqued the interest of NBA stars like Curry.

It’ll be interesting to see if players in the NBA get motivated to beat this record by Ionescu next year during NBA All-Star Weekend and if Curry and possibly Thompson throw their hats back in the ring to try and win for a third time while shooting for 37 points or more.
