Honey Girl Organics was established in January 2006 by Anthony & Gwen Maxfield and Christina Sirlin, DC. Anthony had been keeping bees as a hobby for several years, and his wife, Gwen, noticed how soft his hands were after working with the honey and beeswax. They and their friend and chiropractor Christina Sirlin, all interested in natural and organic skin creams for themselves, began creating skin care products in their kitchen for their personal use, and later to give as gifts. They started with 3 ingredients: beeswax, honey and olive oil blended with some water.

A few years later and after many product renditions, they increased their production and created Honey Girl Organics (casually called HGO or Honey Girl). They began selling in local health food stores and markets in Hawaii, and online. The first 6 products brought to market were: Face & Eye Crème, Body Crème, Cuticle & Nail Crème, Super Skin Food, Foot Balm and Lip Balm. Over the next few years they introduced additional products and expanded into a number of larger retailers around the country, such as Whole Foods Markets, which started carrying their products in 2008.{{Cite news |date=Nov 11, 2021 |title=Tmall Global’s Pitch Fest is an opportunity to gain traction in China |work=Ali Baba Powers US Businesses}}
