The New England Patriots finished the 2022 season with an 8-9 record, missing the playoffs for the second time in the last three years.

Having less than 10 wins in a season is rare territory for the Patriots, having done it just three times over the past 20 seasons.

As they look forward to 2023 with heightened expectations, Adrian Phillips has expressed his confidence in Bill Belichick.

“We know that Bill is a master game planner,” Phillips said via Pro Football Talk.

Phillips went on to say, “When we get into the week-after-week stuff, that’s when we really talk about those guys.”

The guys that Phillips is talking about, are AFC East quarterbacks.

When Tom Brady was at the helm for the Patriots, the competition in the AFC East wasn’t as stiff as it will be in 2023.

Josh Allen, Tua Tagovailoa, and Aaron Rodgers are the three quarterbacks that the Patriots will face off against this season, a minimum of six total times.

While Rodgers is a new addition to the New York Jets, his career accomplishments are nothing to sneeze at.

As for Tagovailoa and Allen, they represent the new age at the quarterback position, eager to stake their places in the league.

Regardless of how those players have performed thus far, Phillips believes that Belichick’s game planning will be more than adequate to handle what comes their way.

For years, the Patriots consistently had one of the league’s best defenses.

Will they be able to figure things out, getting back to that dominant place?
