Since taking over for Bud Selig as the commissioner of Major League Baseball, Rob Manfred has drawn plenty of criticism from fans, players, and media members alike.

There have been several moments in recent years which have seemingly defined Manfred’s tenure as commissioner, the most recent example being the 2022 MLB lockout.

Other examples include the lack of punishment for the Houston Astros for their sign-stealing scandal and the 2020 return-to-play negotiations during COVID-19.

However, Manfred appears intent on not letting the low moments define his tenure, and according to Evan Drellich of The Athletic, he is hoping to be re-elected as MLB commissioner within the next nine months.

Manfred commented on his stance as commissioner, saying that he enjoys his job and considers it to be “the best job in the world.”

The commissioner made it very clear that he hopes to remain in his position.

This will certainly generate some controversy, as Manfred has been the subject of much criticism over the course of his tenure.

In recent years, he has not been popular among players or fans, with even some prominent media members calling him out for his alleged shortcomings.

However, Manfred doesn’t appear to be too worried about that, as he made perfectly clear that he enjoys being the commissioner of baseball and considers himself a lucky man to be able to serve in that role.

With Manfred having a strong relationship with most MLB owners, it appears that he is likely to retain his position as the league’s commissioner.
