The Tigers Had A Game To Remember On Saturday

The Detroit Tigers had a fun day on Saturday as they tossed a combined no-hitter against the powerful Toronto Blue Jays.

Right-hander Matt Manning gave the Tigers 6.2 innings, walking just three batters and striking out five before turning things over to reliever Jason Foley.

Foley got the Tigers through the seventh and pitched a scoreless eighth before turning things over to closer Alex Lange, who earned the save and completed the no-hitter.

It was just the 20th combined no-hitter in Major League history.

On Twitter, Bleacher Report pointed out this interesting fact and posted a video of the final out of the game.

The final obstacle of the game was Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Guerrero chased a pitch low and hit it to third base.

But Zach McKinstry was able to come up with it and ultimately threw a strike to first base to put an end to the game and secure the no-no for the Tigers.

Comerica Park then went into a frenzy as the Tigers and their fans celebrated the no-hitter.

All the Tigers needed were two runs.

Spencer Torkelson and Kerry Carpenter provided the offense with RBI-hits in the bottom of the first inning, and that was more than enough for the Tigers to cruise to a victory and make some history in the process.

Detroit improved their record to 39-49 on the season and came to within 5.5 games of first place in the weak AL Central division.

But what mattered was their impressive accomplishment, as they held the Blue Jays hitless.
