The Minnesota Timberwolves are coming off a disappointing end to their 2022-23 NBA season, with the team falling flat in the first round of the NBA playoffs against the Denver Nuggets in five games.

Although the Nuggets ultimately went on to win it all and made easy work of every team in the Western Conference along the way, even though they lost two games to the Phoenix Suns, the Timberwolves didn’t end well, leading to a lot of speculation about what could happen in the offseason.

Despite the rumors floating around about what the Timberwolves might do, the team hasn’t made any significant moves outside of securing the long-term future of rising star Anthony Edwards.

Along with the news of Edwards getting paid, veteran point guard Mike Conley also got some good news, with the 35-year-old being awarded the Joe Dumars Trophy, according to the NBA Communications Twitter account.

This marks the fourth time Conley has been given the NBA Sportsmanship Award, which officially puts him ahead of Grant Hill, who won the award three times during his playing career.

A few other players have won this award multiple times, with Jason Kidd and Kemba Walker winning twice.

Although Conley isn’t the same dominant guard of old, he still makes an impact on his team and is obviously a valuable member of the Timberwolves squad.

Conley edged out veteran center Boban Marjanovic to win the award, getting 96 first-place votes compared to 86 for the seven-footer, with only Darius Garland of the Cleveland Cavaliers coming somewhat close with 53 first-place votes.
