After a week of movement in the NBA since the start of free agency last Friday, a lot of players have signed new deals with their current teams, with a few of those players signing massive contracts to secure their long-term futures.

Perhaps the biggest name to sign a massive contract this summer thus far is Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves, who is now officially the face of the franchise ahead of Karl-Anthony Towns.

Edwards is now a very wealthy man, with the superstar in the making inking a five-year deal worth as much as $260 million.

With his future in Minnesota now officially secure, the soon-to-be 22-year-old thinks he should be mentioned as one of the best players in the league after the upcoming season, as he told Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, via NBA TV.

Over the past few years, the Timberwolves were Towns’ team, and justifiably so, with the versatile center being far and away the best all-around player on the squad in Minnesota.

That is no longer the case after Edwards came off his best season with the team thus far, averaging a career-high 24.6 points per game for the Timberwolves while adding 5.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.

Every year he’s been in the league with the Timberwolves, Edwards has improved his game and his stats across the board while turning a lot of heads around the league as potentially being a superstar in the making.

However, he has yet to have his shining moment in the NBA playoffs, which is what he’ll likely be shooting for and will need to really make a name for himself in this league.
