Hornets Officially Commit To Their Franchise Cornerstone
The Charlotte Hornets are a struggling NBA franchise that is on the cusp of an ownership change, with Michael Jordan selling his majority shares in the team.
Even though it seems as though Jordan has had enough of running this team that hasn’t gone anywhere during his time as owner, the Hornets may still have a bright future ahead with star guard LaMelo Ball leading the way.
Although Ball has dealt with numerous injuries during his short time with the team, he has proven his worth and, as a result, officially signed a massive contract extension on Thursday, according to the team’s Twitter account, securing his long-term future with the franchise.

Ball will be joined by No. 2 overall pick Brandon Miller this season, who might be able to help the team take the next step and could prove to be the perfect teammate for the face of the franchise.
Along with the Hornets bringing in Miller to stretch the floor and help take the scoring load off Ball, Charlotte will get Miles Bridges back next season, which could be a game-changer for the team moving forward.
The Hornets have a long way to go before they can genuinely compete with heavyweights like the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference, but the team might be off to a good start if they can keep these young stars healthy and motivated.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Hornets can make some noise during the 2023-24 campaign and make a run at a playoff spot.
