NBA Insider Reveals Garrett Temple Update
The New Orleans Pelicans are a team on the rise in the NBA, with the up-and-coming squad having one of the best young rosters in the league today.
However, things have gotten a bit shaky in the Big Easy as of late, with Zion Williamson continuing to struggle to stay healthy and dealing with a weight issue.
As if things weren’t already bad enough for Williamson, off-the-court issues have started to become a major distraction, which leads to doubt about his and the team’s long-term future.
With Williamson’s future in New Orleans undecided, the team has tried to make some smart moves with NBA free agency now in full swing.
On Wednesday, the Pelicans made a decision to address a part of their roster, with the team parting ways with Garrett Temple, according to Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype.
Sources: The New Orleans Pelicans are waiving Garrett Temple, @hoopshype has learned. Temple’s $5.4 million salary for the 2023-24 season would’ve been fully guaranteed by July 7 if he remained on the roster.

At 37, Temple has been in the league for a long time, as he came into the league as an undrafted player and carved out quite a career since making his debut with the Houston Rockets in 2010.
Throughout his career thus far, Temple has played for 11 teams, with his longest stints being with the Washington Wizards and Sacramento Kings.
Clearly, Temple is used to being a journeyman in the NBA, and this might not be his last stop if a team in the league finds value in bringing him in.
As for the Pelicans, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the franchise and what stars might be leading the way in the near future.
