The hits keep on coming for the Los Angeles Angels, who have enjoyed a solid season up to this point but have now lost seven of their last 10 games.

They also dropped the first two games of their three-game series with the San Diego Padres and fell to the brink of being swept and losing more ground in the AL West and Wild Card races.

Mike Trout was injured on Monday night and is now expected to miss up to 8 weeks.

To make matters worse, Shohei Ohtani left his start early with a blister on his finger.

He will not be able to pitch in the All-Star Game in Seattle.

On MLB Network, insider Jon Morosi discussed the implications of the Halos’ recent injuries.

Morosi notes that there is a high level of concern with the Angels front office and that surgery is possible for Trout.

With Trout out, Mickey Moniak may be getting the bulk of the action in center field.

Hunter Renfroe too will likely get some more at-bats.

Morosi believes that even with Trout and Ohtani’s injuries, the Angels are likely in “buy-mode” for the trade deadline, stating that he doesn’t believe this will impact their strategy and that they will not look to trade Ohtani.

On the subject of Ohtani, Morosi stated that it is very likely that the two-way star will at least be in the starting lineup for the American League on July 11, even though he will not be able to pitch.

This means that Ohtani likely will not hit the injured list.
