Fans Are Remembering A Zion Williamson Summer League Moment Today
When Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans was selected as the number one draft pick a few years ago, people envisioned a future where he led the NBA and was the most dominant player in the league.
It hasn’t quite worked out that way.
But Williamson has played hard for the majority of his injury-laden career, including right at the start in the Summer League.
Several years ago, NBA fans got their first taste of Williamson when he played against the New York Knicks in an explosive 2019 Summer League game.
During the first quarter of that game, Williamson stole the ball away from Knicks star Kevin Knox with force.
It’s a play that people still celebrate to this day.

The steal was all that Pelicans fans needed to see at the time.
It convinced them that Williamson was the real deal and was well on his way to becoming the new star of the league.

But as fun as it was to watch, Williamson’s steal from Knox was and still is quite controversial.
Numerous people at the time called out Williamson for committing a foul.
They also called out the referees for not giving Williamson the whistle.
Foul???

Yup, he fouled him. Yet it wasn’t called

Many people were very critical of Williamson’s game back then, saying that he was creating airballs and was locked down by New York’s defense.
These are critiques we still hear about Williamson today.
It’s funny how everyone that didn’t watch the game is saying he is a monster. Dude was air balling 3’s and getting cooked on defense all night. I don’t get all the hype ?♂️

Williamson hasn’t played a game since January when he was once again injured and missed the vast majority of the season.
Unfortunately, it’s been a long time since we have seen him perform like this.
If Williamson gets healthy, we could witness him become an unstoppable force on the court again.
But we just don’t know if that will happen.
