The Chicago Bulls could only do so much with the hand they were given in the offseason.

They didn’t have any first-round draft picks and were unable — or unwilling — to acquire one, and they didn’t have a lot of cap space to go after any big-name player.

Even so, they had a somewhat solid start to the offseason, re-signing C Nikola Vucevic and PG Coby White while also adding PG Jevon Carter and F Torrey Craig at a discount.

Still, that might not be enough to compete at the highest level, once again casting doubts about Zach LaVine’s future with the organization.

To add insult to injury, the UCLA product has once again fueled speculation about a potential trade by purchasing a huge mansion in California.

According to California Listings (via Daniel Greenberg), the All-Star guard/forward bought a mansion in Pelican Crest for a whopping $34 million.

The mansion is reportedly the most expensive on the market in that gated community, and it’s also one of the most luxurious and larger-than-life properties in the area.

Of course, LaVine can afford to spend a buck or two on this kind of thing after securing a contract extension worth $215 million with the Bulls.

But he has looked far from satisfied with the direction the organization is heading — and rightfully so.

Trading LaVine could be complicated because of his contract, as he could be better off as a second go-to guy as opposed to a franchise player, but the Bulls could still fetch some interesting value if they decide to blow things up.
