Eric Gordon Reportedly Had More Lucrative Offers Before Joining Suns
With Matt Ishbia now calling the shots as the new owner of the Phoenix Suns, the team is seemingly going all out to be a perennial title contender for the foreseeable future, with numerous trades and changes that will make this team a force to be reckoned with next season and beyond.
Even though the Suns have one of the best starting lineups in the league, led by Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, the consensus has been that Phoenix seriously lacks depth and doesn’t have the cap space to do much about it.
That said, the team would be forced to try convincing players in free agency to take veteran minimum deals to play for this team that intends to compete during the 2023-24 campaign.
On Sunday, the team potentially struck gold again, with veteran sharpshooter Eric Gordon passing on more lucrative deals to sign with Phoenix, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Phoenix has turned into a destination this offseason: Gordon considered multiple contenders — including more lucrative deals — before committing to Suns to join a bolstered roster around Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal. https://t.co/ksDFXjc0wT

Adding Gordon into the mix with players that will create a lot of space and draw double teams is incredibly ideal for the Suns, as he can do his thing beyond the arc next season with what will almost certainly be a lot of open shots.
Although it will be tough to top Nikola Jokic and the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets, the Suns are doing everything they can to close the gap and become the team to beat in the Western Conference.
It remains to be seen if this roster is as imposing as it is on paper and if Durant and company can live up to expectations.
