The Jazz Have Re-Signed A Key Veteran To A Long-Term Deal
The Utah Jazz haven’t been the most active team in the young 2023 NBA free agency, yet they just made one signing that will help them remain competitive in the Western Conference.
The team recently completed a trade for forward John Collins in a deal with the Hawks.
Jordan Clarkson had been a solid bench player for the Jazz and was a key figure during the Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert days.
However, last season he became a full-time starter and had a career year averaging 20.8 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.0 rebounds in 61 games last season.
Ahead of free agency, he had picked up his player option to stay with the Jazz for one more season.
He will reportedly be staying with the team for the long-term after agreeing to a contract extension for three years and $55 million, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Utah’s Jordan Clarkson, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul and agent Brandon Cavanaugh are finalizing a three-year, $55 million contract renegotiation and extension with the Jazz, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Deal includes next season and two new years through 2025-26.

The Los Angeles Lakers were often mentioned as a potential landing spot for Clarkson, but they never tried to make a move for him.
The Jazz have a young and upcoming group with Lauri Markkanen and Collin Sexton leading the way along with many high draft picks.
Clarkson was the NBA’s Sixth man award winner in the 2020-21 season.
