Domingo German Has Some Elite Company In The History Books
Major League Baseball (MLB) has been played since 1876, when the National League was born.
Since that year, only 24 perfect games have been thrown.
Domingo German of the New York Yankees broke an 11-year perfect-game drought with an impressive one against the Oakland Athletics.
It was a masterful display of effectiveness and command of his deep arsenal.
Before him, the last perfect game in MLB had occurred in 2012, by the “King”, Felix Hernandez.
German is joining a short list of elite pitchers who were absolutely perfect.
No hits, no walks, not even an error from your defense: throwing a perfect game is the ultimate achievement for a pitcher when it comes to a single game.
Here is the list that German is joining, per MLB on FOX:

Lee Richmond threw the first ever perfect game, back in 1880, while pitching for the Worcester Ruby Legs.
That same year, the Providence Grays’ John Ward threw the second.
Cy Young, the man who gave his name to the ultimate pitching award, completed the third in 1904.
Don Larsen of the Yankees has the only one in World Series history, back in 1956.
Dennis Martinez of the Montreal Expos became the first Latin-American pitcher to throw one in 1991 and became a hero in the region.
Now, German just became the first Dominican hurler to complete a perfect game in MLB history.
It was a relevant night for the history of the game.
It’s not every day you see a perfect game at the highest level, and German just did it after allowing 15 combined runs in his most recent two starts.
