Andy Dalton Makes His Thoughts Clear About NFL Future
The Carolina Panthers reportedly are in no rush to get Bryce Young on the field.
While HC Frank Reich will still have plenty of time to make up his mind about who’s going to be QB1, he already hinted at the possibility of starting Andy Dalton over the No. 1 pick.
Needless to say, that’s not a surprise for the Red Rifle, as he recently claimed that he still sees himself as an NFL starter, via ProFootballTalk.

Dalton claimed that as soon as he doesn’t think he’s better than 32 guys playing at his position, he’s going to walk away from the game.
He also appreciated the situation he’s in now, as Reich and his QB coach Josh McCown were lifelong backups in the league, so they know how much continuity means for a QB entering the final stage of his career.
Truth be told, it’s hard to put the current version ahead of the other incumbent starters in the league, and even though Young hasn’t taken a single snap in the pros, one could even make a case for him being better than this version of Dalton.
The Panthers are wise to take things slowly with their prized rookie, but it’s not like they are expecting to win a lot of games with Dalton at the helm.
He wasn’t elite when he was in his prime, so expecting him to lead the way at 35 years old would be nothing short of delusional.
At the very least, he’s one of the best backups in the game, and one that’s humble enough to serve as a mentor if that’s what’s required of him.
