Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is known as the league’s best player and one of the most celebrated athletes in the world.

But there was a time when he was untested and unheard of.

Nine years ago, Jokic was drafted as the 41st overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

His selection was famously aired during a commercial break when NBA fans were hearing about Taco Bell’s menu instead of Jokic’s potential.

Since then, he secured a 20/11/7 average, and has become a five-time All-Star, five-time All-NBA player, two-time MVP, Finals MVP, and now an NBA champion too.

Nuggets fans couldn’t be happier with the career trajectory of Jokic.

When he first entered the league, people weren’t sure what they were going to get.

Because of his size and build, most people thought he’d be another talented big man.

But he has been so much more than that.

Jokic is easily one of the best passers in the league.

He has an uncanny ability to find teammates in the most exciting, unusual ways.

It’s not uncommon to see him perform incredible behind-the-back and between-the-leg assists.

Of course, Jokic is also an excellent shooter and strong rebounder too.

In 2022-23, Jokic averaged 24.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game on 63.2% from the field.

Jokic is definitely the most talked-about player in the league right now.

There are some who say he may have changed the NBA and could be ushering in a brand new class of centers and power forwards who are versatile.

Jokic has come a long way from that draft nine years ago.
