On Friday, the St. Louis Cardinals made a move to strengthen their outfield depth, acquiring super utilityman Richie Palacios from the Cleveland Guardians.

Palacios made his Major League debut last season with the Guardians, hitting .232 with no home runs, 10 RBI, two stolen bases, and an on-base percentage of .293.

After the trade was announced, Palacios was very excited to begin the next chapter of his career in St. Louis.

Palacios even updated his profile picture, taking a picture of himself wearing a Guardians uniform and photoshopping a Cardinals jersey on his uniform.

The photo can be found in the tweet below.

Palacios is clearly excited to begin the next chapter of his career as a Cardinal.

Last season, the Guardians won the AL Central with 92 wins.

Palacios appeared in 54 games for the Guardians.

However, he is set for a fresh start with the Cardinals.

He can play multiple positions in the infield and in the outfield and provides the Cardinals with some flexibility on their bench, if he is called up to the majors at any point.

But his excitement for joining the Cardinals is certainly palpable.

The Cardinals haven’t had a very good season to date, but Palacios is clearly ready to go despite their struggles.

He was optioned to Triple-A Memphis upon being acquired on Friday.

With outfielders such as Lars Nootbaar and Tyler O’Neill on the injured list, a spot could open up for Palacios at a certain point.

Palacios was quick to update his Twitter profile picture, and he is ready to go for St. Louis.
