Heading into the 2023 NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys could be the cream of the crop in the league when it comes to being dominant on the defensive side of the football.

America’s Team will be led by stars Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Trevon Diggs on defense, with high hopes of the team finally living up to expectations and competing for a Super Bowl title.

However, it appears that former first-round draft pick Takk McKinley will not be part of that journey with the Cowboys, as the defensive end has been released, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Although McKinley was thought to be a future star in the making coming out of UCLA in 2017, the dream of being a resounding success on the NFL level never really came to fruition.

McKinley has played for four teams during his NFL career thus far.

With teams always needing a pass rusher, McKinley’s playing career is likely not over, as he still could have some good years left in him, as he’s only 27 years old.

As for the Cowboys, it’s tough to make an impression on a defense as stacked as the one in Dallas, which made McKinley a long shot to make the final roster in the first place.

Dallas will be a team to watch on that side of the football in 2023, with the team hoping to dominate defensively and get it done offensively with star quarterback Dak Prescott under center.
