Despite trading for future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Russell Wilson a year ago, the Denver Broncos‘ 2022 season was nothing short of disastrous, as they won just five games and didn’t even come close to making the playoffs.

Obviously, their offense has been in serious need of some improvements, as they were last in points and scored less than 20 points in 11 of their 17 games.

But the Broncos have also focused on improving on the other side of the football.

On Thursday, they added defensive end Frank Clark, a three-time Pro Bowler, and he will be joining another newcomer in defensive lineman Zach Allen.

In addition, Denver has made some additions to their offensive line.

NFL insider Ari Meirov pointed out that having strong linemen on both sides of the line of scrimmage has been very important for new head coach Sean Payton.

Payton comes to the Broncos following 16 years at the helm of the New Orleans Saints, and for all but one of those seasons, he had future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Drew Brees by his side.

Together, they led the Saints to the Super Bowl championship in the 2009 season, and they often had one of the league’s best offenses over the years.

The Broncos had one of the worst offenses anyone can remember seeing last season, but with wide receiver Tim Patrick and running back Javonte Williams looking to rebound from injury, they could look much better in that department.

But much of that will depend on Wilson and whether he returns to form after a 2022 campaign in which he looked to be in decline.
