There are lots of young managers with innovative ideas in MLB these days.

However, baseball fans also have the joy of watching some of the best and most successful skippers in the history of the game.

Teams value fresh ideas, yes; but they also put a premium value on experience, especially winning experience.

Buck Showalter, Dusty Baker, Bruce Bochy, and Terry Francona represent the savvy, experienced baseball man with tons of knowledge about the game and how to lead a roster.

Two of them, Bochy and Baker, are actually in the top-ten list of managers with the most wins in the league.

Their teams are actual contenders, so they will keep climbing.

Baker, the leader of the Houston Astros, won his first World Series last year.

He is eighth on the all-time wins list for skippers and has a chance to overtake Bucky Harris and take sole possession of seventh place.

Bochy, on the other hand, is a direct competitor of Baker and the Astros as the manager of the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers have invested a lot of resources in the last two offseason and wanted to take Bochy out of his retirement to lead and up-and-coming roster to the playoffs.

So far, he is doing exactly that as Texas leads the AL West with a 40-21 record.

They also have the best run differential in MLB, at +154.

Bochy is still far from the ninth-placed Joe McCarthy, but has a chance to pass him next year if he keeps managing the Rangers.

Bochy and Baker are two of the most respected baseball men currently in the league, and they are very much active and motivated.
