Giants Rookie Played The Role Of Hero With Unique Hit
The San Francisco Giants are a team that has started to play some solid baseball in recent weeks.
They have been largely carried by the heroics of two of their rookies, those being catcher Patrick Bailey and infielder Casey Schmitt.
San Francisco pulled off a jaw-dropping come-from-behind win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night, and Bailey played the hero for the team.
It was a squeeze play in the top of the eighth inning.
The Giants had rallied to tie the game at four after trailing 4-0 in the seventh.
But Bailey bunted and placed it perfectly, which allowed just enough time for the go-ahead run to score in the form of Mitch Haniger.

The moment came with one out and two runners on.
Bailey laid down a bunt against Rockies reliever Justin Lawrence to sneak the go-ahead run across the plate.
It ended up being just enough for the Giants to pull away with another win and move to a game above the .500 mark, while keeping them at 5.5 games back of the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West.
Bailey came up from Triple-A back in May and made his debut against the Miami Marlins.
The former first-round draft pick from 2020 is hitting .309 with two home runs and 14 RBI in his first 55 at-bats of the season and also has an OPS of .866.
Bailey is also reaching base at an impressive .321 clip to start his career.
