Luis Arraez Is Ranked Among Legends On An Elite List
The Miami Marlins made a savvy move during the offseason when they shipped right-hander Pablo Lopez off to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for reigning American League batting champion Luis Arraez.
So far, the Marlins seem to be benefitting quite a bit from this move.
Arraez currently has the best batting average in all of baseball, which sits at .401.
Not since Boston Red Sox legend Ted Williams has a player finished a season with an average of .400 or better.
However, Arraez may have a chance to change all of that.
In fact, he finds himself on an important list of MLB players with the highest batting averages through their first 57 games.

Williams is of course on that list.
He leads the pack with a .403 batting average through 57 games in 1941.
Other stars on the list include Rod Carew, George Brett, Ichiro Suzuki, and Tony Gwynn.
Arraez is second on the list.
The Marlins second baseman hit for a .316 average last season with the Twins en route to his batting title.
This season, Arraez appears to be on track to beat that mark and will more than likely garner some strong consideration for the National League MVP Award.
Interestingly, Arraez has hit just one home run, yet he remains one of the most consistent hitters in all of baseball and is somebody who poses a threat every time he steps in the batter’s box.
Now, he has a chance to become the first player since Williams to finish a season with an average of .400 or higher.
